The tracker houses a bug and feature tracker so everything that gets added goes through it anyway, whether it's a bug report or feature request so it'll need a tracker ticket if it does end up in core. As I said, this is a small improvement that is small enough to land in a patch release so there's no harm in creating a PR.Well it's not really a bug, which is why I didn't think of adding it to the bug tracker. I'll close this idea because ultimately adding a single template variable isn't really a 'big feature' that the ideas section is meant for. Once you create your tracker ticket and create a PR the development team, plus contributors can discuss it on GitHub and go from there.
