Possible options:

• edit replies
• [soft/hard] delete replies
• lock posts
• open/close the topic

Second that, IMHO the topic starter should not need to be doing anything else, and if any 'higher' actions need to be taken then thats down to the forum or global moderator(s)

Anything more is unneeded bloat (IMHO again)
