Hello Mick,
I am the fourth administrator of the forum. phpBB3 was installed in 2008 and at some time after that (I speculate) one of the administers added the extension Header Banner. Only, after the install the button to launch Header Banner failed, gave a General Error message, Again, speculation, the administrator not being able to correct the Header Banner button decided to use the Board Settings button instead. Therefore, the Module Management screen was accessed and the default settings to control the button used for Board Settings was repurchased to launch Header Banner.
My issue was I knew nothing about the Module Management. I had no idea phpBB provided a place where one could change the target of the buttons. I only knew the Header Banner button failed while I was trying to get the banner to display and while looking for the cause some days later by accident I clicked on Board Settings and the Header Banner screen popped up. Really messed up. I did speculate early on that it was not corruption as others on the support forum thought. It was deliberate. I look at the View Page Source of the index page and there was the HTML code calling for the Header Banner where the Board Settings should be. So, somewhere in someplace the coding was changed but, where? Now I know where, in Module Management.
I guess most supporters of this forum either aren't familiar with Module Management or forget it's there or no nothing about it. It took many many days and several topics to run down the cause. I credit with great respect member warmweer. He had asked a question about permissions and I provided several screen shots. He then questioned one of the screen shots by saying, what does that 3rd icon (green) do. I didn't know. I navigated back to the screen in the image I had provided (the label in the screen shot read Board Settings), hovered over the 3rd icon and a popup showed the word Edit. As I was writing warmweer about the button I stopped, thought what happens when you click on that 3rd icon. Went back and clicked, oh my gosh it is a button assignment and it is set to Header Banner. Oh that clever warmweer. He speculated I might click on that 3rd icon and find it sets the target of the button. In my response to warmwer I may have gone overboard with compliments, no I didn't, I was elated, excited, happy with a smile on my face so I went hog wild with compliments. And he well deserved them.
Mick, that's my story and I'm sticking with it.
Still grateful to all who lent a hand to help me, educate me and point me in the right direction,
John

Wow Mick, I just noticed how many posts you have made on this forum. Impressive and so time consuming. I'll just bet the people you have helped really appreciate your time and diligence. I know I have.
