This is intended to take down the forums.....

If it was intended to take down forums they would just go around Cloudflare. To stop a purposeful DDOS attack with CF you need to protect the origin IP because you can just use local DNS to go around CF. Most of the people here haven't or can't take the extra steps to do that

• Firewall ports 80 and 443 except CF IP's.
• Email server needs to be on different IP.
• Disable features in phpBB like the image check that will make outside connections.

It's not just phpBB forums, Webmasterworld uses a forum built in house and they have had same issue.

Another site I use has VB and they have also experienced same problem. My host uses XenForo and they have recently deployed CF presumably because of the same issue.
